Democrats are coming to a painful realization about what the state of play is for the 2024 Election.
Now, they’re having to reassess their prior beliefs.
And a CBS host was stunned by this catastrophic problem facing Joe Biden for 2024.
Border security was something that politicians of both political parties paid lip service to for decades.
Donald Trump changed the political dynamics of border security
The Washington, D.C. “Swamp” playbook on illegal immigration was amnesty for illegal aliens in exchange for border security promises that would never be fulfilled.
U.S. Senators John McCain (R-AZ), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Marco Rubio (R-FL), and other RINOs worked with U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Democrats in 2013 on the Gang of Eight amnesty bill that was a classic “Swamp” bait and switch of border security for amnesty.
Former President Donald Trump upended the political playbook when he ran in 2016 by taking a hardline against illegal immigration.
The media, Democrats, and the Republican establishment were aghast that a Presidential candidate would propose tough measures like a wall to secure the border.
Trump’s common sense border security measures were smeared as dangerous and extreme by the “Swamp.”
His ideas were treated as something outside the normal political discourse.
But the country has undergone a stunning transformation on illegal immigration after President Joe Biden unleashed the worst border crisis in the country’s history.
CBS News host shocked for support for deporting illegal aliens
CBS News host Margaret Brennan was blown away by the results of a CBS/YouGov poll on Face the Nation.
“Homeland Security says that President Biden has already deported or repatriated more people in the past year than any year since 2010,” Brennan claimed. “And then, depending on the details of what’s talked about on the campaign trail, some of what Mr. Trump talks about could be illegal.”
Trump has promised the largest domestic deportation operation in American history if he’s elected.
“It doesn’t seem practical, in some sense, to round up children,” Brennan continued. “And then we know that the courts have questioned whether local authorities would have the ability to do it, and federal authorities don’t have the resources. So what exactly do people think they’re supporting?”
The CBS/YouGov poll found that 62% of Americans support deporting every illegal alien in the country.
CBS Polling Director Anthony Salvanto said that with support for deporting illegal aliens, a number of Democrats would be on board with it.
“When you measure public sentiment on this or really just about any policy, you’re getting a sense of direction. You’re getting broad brushstrokes,” Salvanto said.
The poll also found that only 20% of Americans thought that Biden’s border policies would decrease illegal immigration.
“We are in a different era in which a lot of folks say the system as a whole is not working. And all of these, if you connect the dots through them, are part of that reaction against it, which explains some of that general sentiment for some of these policies,” Salvanto continued.
“It’s really just kind of a ‘Do something’” feeling, a stunned Brennan said.
Immigration is one of the issues for voters in the election.
And the majority of the public supports Trump’s aggressive deportation campaign.
