The Vice Presidential sweepstakes are starting to heat up.

Now the criteria Donald Trump is going to use is coming into focus.

And Donald Trump could make his choice for a running mate because of this surprising reason.

Fundraising ability could boost candidates’ chances of becoming Donald Trump’s running mate

Former President Donald Trump’s search for a running mate is getting serious.

A long list of names is still reportedly on his short list like North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, U.S. Senators J.D. Vance (R-OH), Marco Rubio (R-FL), Tim Scott (R-SC), and Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL).

Sources tell CBNC that one of the key criteria that could help Trump decide on his running mate is their fundraising ability.

President Joe Biden has Wall Street, Big Labor, Big Tech, and Hollywood pouring money into his campaign.

Trump is looking to try and close the money gap after going through a Primary and being tied from the Democrats’ lawfare.

One of the Republican establishment’s picks for Vice President could be rising up the list because of his fundraising ability.

Tim Scott using fundraising to distinguish himself as Vice Presidential pick

Tim Scott is the preferred pick of establishment donors like Oracle founder Larry Ellison – who backed Scott’s ill-fated Presidential campaign.

He’s emerged as a surrogate for the former President on the campaign trail and a vocal defender in the media.

Scott has worked to bring big-money establishment donors back into the fold with a simple message.

“The one thing you can discern as a top donor and Republican and, frankly, a strong business person is that a strong economy makes all things possible,” Scott said.

The South Carolina Senator is set to hold a meeting in Washington, D.C.’s “Swamp” next month of major Republican donors who haven’t backed Trump this election cycle.

“What I’m going to say to the donors across the country and specifically next week is that four more years under Donald Trump is good for our economy,” Scott explained. “It’s good for your pocketbook. But more important, it’s good for America’s future.”

Scott predicted Trump would be a unifying force for the Republican Party who would bring everyone back into the fold.

Larry Elison – the 5th richest man in the world – is leading the charge to get Trump to pick Scott as his running mate.

Puck News reported that he’s met with Trump’s team multiple times to sell them on picking on the South Carolina Senator.

Ellison – who donated tens of millions of dollars to a Super PAC backing Scott’s Presidential campaign – could open his checkbook to help Trump’s campaign if he selects Scott.

But money isn’t the end-all and be-all of a political campaign.

Hillary Clinton outspent Trump by about two to one in her losing effort in the 2016 Election.

Whoever becomes his running mate will likely start the 2028 Election cycle as one of the favorites for the GOP nomination.

The GOP establishment wants to use Donald Trump’s Vice Presidential pick to try and regain control of the party in 2028.
