Nikki Haley thought that her Presidential campaign was on life support after another Primary defeat.
But she was given a new path forward to try and reach the White House.
And Nikki Haley got a 2024 offer from a top Democrat that she never expected.
Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) is running a hopeless campaign to challenge President Joe Biden for the Democrat Presidential nomination.
He’s gotten no traction against Biden despite growing unease in the party about the President leading them at the top of the ticket.
Phillips is beginning to explore his options for November’s General Election after his Primary challenge against Biden floundered.
Democrat floats the idea of running a third-party Presidential campaign with Nikki Haley
Dean Phillips proposed the idea of teaming up with former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley for a bipartisan “unity” ticket during an interview with Minneapolis radio show host Chad Hartman.
Hartman asked him if he would consider voting for Haley over Biden if she somehow won the Republican nomination.
“Wouldn’t all your listeners be more compelled by maybe Nikki Haley and Dean Phillips getting together on a unity ticket and actually doing for the first time, perhaps in our country’s history, what most Americans really want, which is cooperation, collaboration, participation, decency, common sense, leadership?” Phillips asked.
Phillips resigned himself to defeat in the Democrat Primary after the party’s nominating process was changed to protect Biden from a strong challenge.
“So I’m gonna turn the question that way because there’s no way Nikki Haley will become the nominee in the GOP, and the fact of the matter is right now the Democratic Party doesn’t want competition and seems to want to coronate Joe Biden,” Phillips stated.
“Let’s say she ran as an Independent, you would run as her VP?” Hartman asked.
“I think it’s a conversation Ambassador Haley and I should have, if that’s what this comes down to,” Phillips replied.
Dean Phillips predicts that Joe Biden will lose to Donald Trump
Phillips’ Primary challenge against Biden is centered on his claim that the President is too old to be able to defeat former President Donald Trump.
His concerns about the President were confirmed by the release of Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report that said no jury would convict Biden for stealing classified documents because he’s an old man with a bad memory.
“In the event of a Donald Trump victory this November, which is almost certain if Joe Biden is the nominee, I think any American who opposes that should celebrate, encourage, and inspire an alternative that can actually win and lead our country in the way that people want, and I think anybody, including myself, should keep open minds and hearts about that,” Phillips explained. “I hope Nikki Haley does and I think America could be very well served by some type of a bipartisan ticket that restores faith in government and most importantly demonstrates to the world, to the world, that America can work together and restore its extraordinary brand around the entire world.”
Moderate group No Labels has been searching for candidates for a bipartisan third-party Presidential ticket.
Another door could be opening for Nikki Haley to keep her Presidential ambitions alive.
