The political dynamics of the election were dramatically altered after President Joe Biden malfunctioned during the CNN debate.
Biden faced serious concerns from voters over his mental and physical fitness to serve another four years in the White House.
That debate became a fire-alarm political fire for him and the Democrats after the nation saw his mental decline.
A behind-the-scenes push to nudge Biden out of the race began during the debate.
Democrat pundits and elected officials called for him to step aside.
Major Democrat donors announced that they were suspending their contributions to the party until the President was replaced.
Rumors swirled of Democrats in Congress coming forward en masse to call on Biden to drop out publicly.
Democrats are in disarray and racked by infighting over what to do about the President.
The party hasn’t experienced this much turmoil about the Presidential ticket since the 1968 Election when President Lyndon Baines Johnson withdrew from the race during the Democrat Primary.
Dick Morris tells Donald Trump to watch Democrats tear themselves apart
Former President Donald Trump kept an uncharacteristically low profile in the aftermath of the CNN debate.
The press, trying to force Biden out of the race, pummeled him with bad headlines.
Democrats were trapped in a negative news cycle centered on Biden’s fitness to hold office and the party’s turmoil.
Dick Morris – a one-time advisor to former President Bill Clinton – told Newsmax that Trump should kick back and watch Biden’s campaign collapse as Democrats fight with each other.
“He shouldn’t interfere with that process by saying anything himself,” Morris said.
“You don’t want Biden out of the race at this point,” Morris continued. “You want him to do just what he’s doing, stay in and hobble to the end and get clobbered.”
Biden tried to do damage control with his first major post-debate interview with ABC News host George Stephanopoulos.
The President notably refused to take any cognitive test and claimed he took one daily by running the country.
Morris noted that Biden “doubled down on his refusal” to take a cognitive test.
“Periodically, in politics, you hit a bump in the road, and you can’t get over it because people are focused on it,” Morris said. “For example, a lot of times a candidate won’t release his tax returns, and then that becomes the only issue because everybody wonders, Why not? I think the cognitive test is a version of that.”
He predicted that Biden’s cognitive health would become one of the defining issues of the election.
The turmoil surrounding the Biden campaign means Trump is in an “ideal situation,” according to Morris.
“Biden is wounded badly,” Morris stated. “He probably can’t recover, but he’s going to stay in the race and lose.”
