Anxiety is setting in among Democrats about Joe Biden’s political prospects for November.
Now, some deep soul-searching is going on about the election.
And a journalist asked one scary question about Joe Biden that left Democrats worried sick.
Democrat data guru asks if Joe Biden should drop out of the election
The White House is still trying to figure out how to save President Joe Biden’s floundering re-election campaign.
Spring has turned into summer, and the political dynamics of the Presidential race haven’t turned in his favor.
His average approval rating hit an all-time low of 37.6% on the website FiveThirtyEight’s polling aggregate.
FiveThirtyEight founder Nate Silver wondered if it was time for Biden to throw in the towel on social media.
“Biden just hit a new all-time low in approval (37.4%) at 538,” Silver wrote on X. “Dropping out would be a big risk. But there’s some threshold below which continuing to run is a bigger risk. Are we there yet? I don’t know. But it’s more than fair to ask.”
Sliver said that Biden should have never run for re-election.
“What’s clearer IMO [in my opinion] is that Democrats would have been better served if Biden had decided a year ago not to seek a second term, which would have allowed them to have some semblance of a primary process and give voters a say among the many popular Democrats across the country,” Silver said.
Given the political circumstances, he thought that it was shocking that the Presidential race was still competitive.
“If I’d told you 10 years ago a president would seek re-election at 81 despite a supermajority of Americans having concerns about his age, and then we’d hit 8% inflation for 2 years, you wouldn’t be surprised he was an underdog for reelection. You’d be surprised it was even close,” Silver stated.
The dynamics of the Presidential race haven’t changed
Silver warned in February that Biden was on track to lose the election.
But Democrats and their media allies dismissed him at the time because they thought the trajectory of the Presidential race was going to turn in the spring.
Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s sham criminal case against former President Donald Trump was supposed to sink his campaign, according to conventional wisdom.
And a conviction was intended to be the kill shot for his campaign.
But the dynamics of the race haven’t changed since Trump’s unjust conviction in Manhattan.
Polling since then shows the race at the same place it’s been for months.
Trump still has a narrow lead nationally and in most of the swing states that will decide the election.
The Presidential has been static this year despite the lawfare against Trump.
The grim reality facing Democrats is that things could still get worse for Biden between now and Election Day.
It’s entirely possible that his support could continue to drop.
Trump was hit with a criminal conviction and the polling shows no meaningful change in his numbers.
At this point, there probably isn’t anything left that Democrats can throw at him between now and the election.
Democrats are scrambling to figure out what they can do right with Joe Biden’s sinking ship.
