Electric vehicles are becoming an important issue in the 2024 Election.

In the Rust Belt where the auto industry is located, it’s a make-or-break one.

Now Chuck Schumer is panicking after a top Democrat botched this simple question on cars.

Vulnerable Senate Democrat trying to hold on in Ohio

U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) watched the political landscape of Ohio shift after he was first elected in 2006.

Ohio was one of the biggest swing states in the country, but after former President Donald Trump cruised to victory there in the 2016 Election, it’s undergone a major shift to the Right.

Brown is facing the toughest race of his political career in a blue-collar state that has a major auto manufacturing industry.

President Joe Biden’s Green New Deal policies – which Brown has been an enthusiastic supporter of – are poised to decimate Ohio’s economy.

Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued new tailpipe emission standards that would create a de facto electric vehicle mandate.

By 2032, more than 60% of the vehicles on the road would have to be electric for automakers to comply.

And that would mean tens of thousands of good-paying manufacturing jobs in Ohio would be wiped out.

Sherrod Brown refuses to say if gas vehicles should be banned

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) released a video of Brown and his staffers walking near Capitol Hill.

“Senator Brown, do you think gas cars should be banned?” a man off-camera asks him.

The Ohio Senator ignored the question and kept walking.

“Do you support the EPA’s decision to ban gas cars?” the man asked. “Do you think gas cars should be banned? Yes, or no?”

Brown refused to answer a simple question about one of the most pressing issues in Ohio this election cycle.

His GOP challenger, Bernie Moreno – a car dealer endorsed by former President Donald Trump – said that Brown’s silence spoke volumes.

“Sherrod Brown won’t answer because the truth is that he is a Green New Deal radical that wants to crush American autoworkers and hand our industry to China,” Moreno wrote on X.

Moreno warned about the devastation that Biden’s electric vehicle mandate inflicted on the auto industry during an interview with Sirius XM’s Breitbart News Saturday in March.

“This manic move to electric vehicles is going to destroy the auto industry in America,” Moreno said. “You look at the Buick electric vehicles that are coming out – almost all of them made in China. The Lincoln electric vehicles are all going to be mostly produced in China. The batteries are mostly produced in China.”

Moreno said that China is getting ready to flood the American market with cheap Bidenmobiles built in Mexico.

“China has a company that people will start hearing a lot about called BYD,” Moreno explained. “They’re building these giant, massive factories in Mexico and want to ship these cars over to the U.S. – $15,000-$20,000 electric vehicles – that would decimate our auto industry in America. Sherrod Brown is all in for that.”

Sherrod Brown wants to wipe out the jobs of Ohio autoworkers and give China control of the auto industry.
